This paper addresses the issue of providing resource reservation mechanism for OBS networks. We propose a linear prediction\r\nmechanism based on least mean square (LMS) method to reduce the burst delay at edge nodes. A reservation method is proposed\r\nto increase the reservation probability and to improve the delay reduction performance....
A methodology for processing spectroscopic information using a chemometrics-based analysis was designed and implemented\r\nin the detection of highly energetic materials (HEMs) in the gas phase at trace levels. The presence of the nitroaromatic HEM\r\n2,4-dinitrotoluene (2,4-DNT) and the cyclic organic peroxide triacetone triperoxide (TATP) in air was detected by chemometricsenhanced\r\nvibrational spectroscopy. Several infrared experimental setups were tested using traditional heated sources (globar),\r\nmodulated and nonmodulated FT-IR, and quantumcascade laser- (QCL-) based dispersive IR spectroscopy. The data obtained from\r\nthe gas phase absorption experiments in the midinfrared (MIR) region were used for building the chemometrics models. Partial\r\nleast-squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) was used to generate pattern recognition schemes for trace amounts of explosives in\r\nair. The QCL-based methodology exhibited a better capacity of discrimination for the detected presence of HEM in air compared\r\nto other methodologies....
Porch swing bearing for the linear motion of the mirror in Michelson interferometer for mid-infrared low resolution Fourier\r\ntransformspectrometer was studied experimentally using themodulation depth of the collimated laser beam. The mirror tilting was\r\nmeasured to be lower than 5 ??rad over 3mmmirror travel using two different bearings assemblies. Additionally, themanufacturing\r\ntolerances of the bearing type were proved to be loose enough not to limit the interferometer application. These demonstrate that\r\nthe porch swing without any adjustment mechanisms provides the sufficient motion linearity....
Infrared science and technology has been, since the first applications, mainly dedicated to security and surveillance especially in\r\nmilitary field, besides specialized techniques in thermal imaging for medical diagnostic and building structures and recently in\r\nenergy savings and aerospace context. Till recently the security applications were mainly based on thermal imaging as surveillance\r\nand warning military systems. In all these applications the advent of room temperature, more reliable due to the coolers avoidance,\r\nlow cost, and, overall, completely integrable with Silicon technology FPAs, especially designed and tailored for specific applications,\r\nsmart sensors, has really been impacted with revolutionary and new ideas and system concepts in all the infrared fields, especially\r\nfor security applications. Lastly, the advent of reliable Infrared Solid State Laser Sources, operating up to the Long Infrared\r\nWavelength Band and the new emerging techniques in Far Infrared Submillimeter Terahertz Bands, has opened wide and new\r\nareas for developing new, advanced security systems. A review of all the items with evidence of the weak and the strong points of\r\neach item, especially considering possible future developments, will be reported and discussed....
We propose, evaluate, and demonstrate the performance of an IR/optical double-image experimental setup where we capture two\r\nsimultaneous images of a single object, in two different spectral bands, using a single detector array. With this arrangement, we may\r\nobserve rapidly changing phenomena, at a rate of more than 1000 frames per second, without the loss of the spatial information\r\nabout the test subject. We describe the optical system to perform simultaneous imaging in IR for slightly inclined optical axes.We\r\nverify the actual performance by applying the experimental method to flame analysis in the mid-IR to determine the combustion\r\nefficiency....
